Launched in 2016, OUAGA FILM LAB defines itself as a space for meeting, training and fundraising between African film professionals and other labs, funds, and supports from around the world.

The main objective is to contribute to the emergence of a dynamic cultural and creative industry through the development of cultural cooperation between Africa and the rest of the world in order to obtain more investment from African companies and private and public institutions in the field of film production, by promoting the sharing of best practices, know-how and the promotion of financial opportunities.

From 2022, 12 film projects, i.e. 24 people (director/producer tandems) are selected and invited to the residential incubation phase.

From 2016 to 2021, OUAGA FILM LAB means :

  • 70 incubated projects
  • 5 feature films finalized
  • 1 Golden Stallion of Yennenga (documentary).
  • 4 projects in post-production
  • 6 projects in production
  • 10 projects in advanced development,
  • 16 projects in writing.
  • 100+ participants.

OUAGA FILM LAB has welcomed 132 participants over the past 6 years. 30% women and 70% men, from Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Congo DRC, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Central African Republic, Senegal, Sudan, Chad and Togo.
