Since four years now, Ouagadougou, capital of African Cinema, gathers women and men of cinema, artists, experts with international recognition around training session of script-writing technics, pitching, production strategy as well as networking, to spring up a new generation of African filmmaker. Since four years now, this excellent incubator discovers and brings to light talented people.
Located in the heart of West Africa, taking more and more the shape of an African platform, OUAGA FILM LAB succeeded to bring its own contribution to the current challenges of African Cinema. During each edition, it reunites about thirty institutions of the international cinema network, directors, famous producers and young African talents with innovative projects. This makes OUAGA FILM LAB a high-level hub for sharing experiences, professional meetings and networking. It is in this dynamic that the partnership FESPACO – OUAGA FILM LAB has to be considered and promoted.
For this 4th edition, the projects holders come from Burkina Faso, Gabon, Guinea, Mali, Nigeria, Uganda, RDC, Rwanda, Senegal and Togo. From September 12th to 21st, 2019, 15 film projects (fiction and documentary) will be presented by 25 directors and producers to experts coming from France, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Guinea, Egypt, Cameroun, Mozambique, Tunisia, Rwanda, Senegal and Burkina Faso.
After its launch in 2016, OUAGA FILM LAB began its consolidation process in 2018 to become a sustainable member of the objectives of the National Strategy for Culture and Tourism. That is why this project deserves all the support of the State of Burkina Faso and the professionals of this country. It is an opportunity for me to thank all the technical and financial partners who spare no effort to support this unique international platform in Africa.
